[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Another shot from our hike into McKittrick Canyon in Guadalupe Mountains National Park in west Texas. Due to the high winds (~50 MPH) I needed a fast shutter speed and wanting to keep a small enough aperture to ensure DOF I boosted the ISO to 1250 and counted on the D200 to handle the noise. I have opened up some shadows (foreground rocks) using a couple of control points in Nikon Capture NX.

Hi Bill,

You have managed well in DOF with a fast shutter speed like this. I imagine that you did not have a tripod? Anyway you have a good POV going uphill, the trails brings our attention to the cliffs in the BG. Good balanced of exposure, crisp colors (the polarized filter helps to achieved that) and nice elements. Your DOF could have been better with a slower shutter speed but you still did a fine job. TFS.

PC :)

hi Bill,

Very impressive for ISO 1250. I've never tried that high an ISO setting on my D200, you give me courage :-) Really good handling of what looks like a tricky lighting situation with the sun high in the sky and you almost shooting straight into the light source. The saturation is very natural and even in thumbnail size, the quality of the photo is evident. TFS and welcome to Treklens.

Hi Bill,
A wonderful photo with a beautiful view. The CP gave the photo some really beautiful saturated colors. Great work on the DOF and the PP work on the shades in the FG.
