100 Towers

Another wobbly shot from the town of Pavia.
During the Medieval Age, the rich families in Pavia tried to outdo each other with a show of wealth and power by building towers. The wealthier and most powerful family was the one who owned the highest tower in town, a tower which could look down on the others.
Pavia was also called “the town of the hundred towers” and in some old paintings of Pavia you can see a small medieval town bristling with spiky towers.
Only very few of them are still standing up with a very “tired look”. |
