Picture taken while driving (passenger) on the QEW highway near St-Catherines in Southern Ontario in January.

The ship’s story is as bizarre tas it looks.
Jordan pirate ship began life in 1914 as a St. Lawrence River ferry named Le Progress.

It was converted into a floating restaurant in 1991 and built to resemble La Grande Hermine, the ship French explorer Jacques Cartier sailed along the St. Lawrence River in 1535.

The owner had big dreams but little money, parked the vessel in the marina at Beacon Harbourside Inn on Canada Day 1997 , it was the final stop after a voyage of unpaid dockages along the St. Lawrence River. The vessels fell into the hands of arsonists in 2003, leaving a slowly rusting hulk on the Lake Ontario shoreline.

Hi Sky,
So that's what happened to this ship! I've passed this ship several hundred times both before and after. Thanks for the great notes.

Excellent work with the PP to create this feeling, at least for me, of a haunted ship.

Cheers, Todd

Hi Sky

A sad & ignoble end to this illustrious vessel. Looks like an oil painting or a 'Turner' from the UK. Tfs!

Hi Sky
Wonderful PP work on this poor ship it really adds so much to your photo! Great notes!

Tricia

Hi Sky, What a sad fate this ship had. Your pp treatment resulted in a painting like quality. Good work. Danilo

funny, I have alot of drive by photos of this ship as well. I remember seeing it the first time I drove to visit my husband on his ship and he asked me where I was when he called to check on me...I told him I'm driving by the pirate ship.he though I was nuts...:o) I wish someone would do something with it...its really neat seeing it there..your photo is pretty neat actually, almost a bit errie even though your looking at lake ontario.:o)

Thanks for sharing
Donna:o)

thanks for your comments on my photo " mini golf view" :o)

WOW, like a classical master! And yet this was in OUR LIFETIME! Well done! Excellent drive-by shooting! Tfs, Jay

Hi Sky,
This beautiful photo looks like a watercolour. I like these colors and your composition with the mast against the sky! Very well done with a great artistic sense. Annie

Well, Sky, good for you! I am so intimidated by PS that I admire people like you who jump right in and make a photo into a painting! Turneresque for sure with that sky. It never was this striking in life, that little boat, but it sure is now! Exceptional transformation, I am in awe! Cheers, Linda

Really looks like a painting Sky. I'm not a big fan of pp, but here again you have created a beautiful image. TFS

This looks like an old oil painting. It is the sort of painting you would find in any stately home in England. Nice simple scene and a great effect

I most have driven by this place a thousand times. I had always wondered what it was, where it had come from and whose it was. Thanks for your note, as you have answered all my questions. Your photograph is certainly more attractive than the real thing. Maybe because we are too busy on the QEW keeping up with a very fast traffic flow..

Well done

Like some of the others, I had wondered about this as I passed it, your notes are very rewarding.
PP has turned something plain and discarded into a fitting picture,
this would look great in a Marine museum along with your notes
