't Zand Fountain in Bruges

Before leaving Bruges after another visit to that wonderful town, we often stop on 't Zand place for some time, enjoy the late afternoon sunlight and have a look at that beautiful fountain and those lovely sculptures created in 1985-1986 by Stefaan Depuydt and Livia Canestraro. In all, there are four groups of statues: ‘The Bathing Ladies’ (symbolising the Flemish cities of Bruges, Ghent, Antwerp and Kortrijk), ‘Flemish Landscape’, ‘The Fishermen’, referring to the link between Bruges and the sea) and ‘The Cyclists’.
When I wanted to take this photograph I noticed two children running round the fountain.
Who knows they weren't animated by the spirit of Tyl Uylenspiegel, legendary hero of the Flanders, whose figure is standing on top of the column on the left. It's also a kind of tribute to my grandfather (a Walloon) and my grandmother (a Flemish young lady) who met here and lived on this place for the first year of their marriage.

Post processing in Photoshop - the young boy silhouette was added from another photograph taken at the same place.
