[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Recent bushfires in north eastern and south eastern Victoria burned for over two months, and consumed around 1 million hectares (about 4 million acres) of land.

Most of these blazes were started by lightning strikes, but some, inexplicably, were started deliberately by people.

Much of the area affected was mountainous and inaccessible by foot, so containment was extremely difficult. Back-burning and aerial containment methods were the main methods of fighting the blazes.

This was the view captured after welcome rains fell in one of the affected areas near Mansfield in north eastern Victoria.

A mood photo with a good geometry and exposure. I like graphical aspect of the tree and the diagonal of the branch. The light in background gives a feeling of hope.

Hi Peter,

This is really impressive! I've never seen such a dramatic sky!! Pity they had to burn so many trees to create this beautiful sky! Great contrast and POV!

Well done

Hi Peter,
Very colorful and ominious, the reflected reds in the sky from the fires, the contrasts of the dark clouds and silhouttes of the trees make for a compelling photo. Well done, Thanks for sharing,
Fran

Wonderful, moody shot! The colors are beautiful, the silhouettes on the left and fg frame partially the lovely sunset.

Excellent capture Peter, bushfire wise it has not been a very happy Summer for most Australian states including Tasmania. Lovely moody colours, well composed and strong silhouettes. TFS,
David
