This was taken at the National Zoo in Washington D.C.
One panda was crazy running up and down trees and around on the rocks.. Very hard for me to get a good shot... Then as we walked around the corner I found this nice laid back guy just sitting and eating...

More info to come... *** found some info on the Pandas at our National Zoo in Washington DC

Giant pandas at the Zoo

Panda Cub (Tai Shan) and mother (Mei Xiang) at the National ZooThe government of the People's Republic of China donated two giant pandas, Ling-Ling (female) and Hsing-Hsing (male), to the zoo two months after President Richard Nixon's historic 1972 trip to China. Ling-Ling died in 1992 and Hsing-Hsing in 1999 without producing any cubs that survived for more than a few days.

A new pair of pandas, female Mei Xiang ("Beautiful Fragrance") and male Tian Tian ("More and More"), arrived on loan from the Chinese government in late 2000 [1]. The zoo pays an estimated 10 million dollars for the 10-year loan. On July 9, 2005, a male panda cub was born at the Zoo; it was the first surviving panda cub birth in the Zoo's history, and was the product of artificial insemination done by the zoo's reproductive research team. The cub was named Tai Shan ("Peaceful Mountain") on October 17, 100 days after his birth; the panda went without a name for its first hundred days in observance of a Chinese custom. (If Tai Shan survives into adulthood, he will become the third giant panda to do so in U.S. history. The only other panda cubs that had previously been born in the United States were born at the San Diego Zoo in 1999 and 2003. A fourth cub was born at the San Diego Zoo on August 2, 2005, and a fifth was born at Zoo Atlanta in early September 2006.)

Tai Shan is property of the Chinese Government and will be sent to China after his second birthday.

What, y've been in Chengdu China too? ...OK it's DC, but a nice Pada shot my dear, boy those animals do only two things: eating and sleeping...without you-know-what-I-mean! :) Great picture Tricia. TFS!

Hi Tricia,
WOW--- I love this shot. Great picture Tricia.
Julie

Good capture. Very sharp and detailled.
Too bad for the fence in the BG but you probably had just that POV.

This is kind of funny since it looks as if the panda is sitting at a table eating it's lunch, so the title fits so well. Good on how you composed your shot. Very nice clarity and sharpness, good details throughout the shot. Excellent notes on panda. TFS

Hello Tricia,
A charming little fellow, well captured!
I notice someone has provided him with fresh bamboo, no way he will do anything but eat then!

Hi Tricia, How lucky to have seen these lovely creatures. I think they are naturally quite shy, aren't they? Great capture, his eating makes for a good photo. Definitely one that brings a smile to ones face... :-) Lesley

Great post great note.
You know Trish, more and more members in here post Zoo shots( including me)This is a multi purpose thing, Zoo's often need the money very hard, for us its a good time to spend a day and we learn something too :-) and often we are there with Family/friends or friends and its good for the connection with them.
So.. of to the Zoo :-) I will send a little Panda in a few. TFS
