Velasca Tower

Who lives in Milan always keeps in mind at least the following buildings: the Duomo, the Sforzesco castle and the Velasca tower. The last one, since it was build in 1958, gave rise to many critics because of its unconventional language, its strong image and its relationship with the Duomo and the castle (it is situated not so far from those buildings).
It was designed by B.B.P.R. and it is 100 metre high. The last 6 floors are larger than other, so its shape is like a mushroom. This reminds the medioval towers but there are functional reasons too. In fact the lower floors house offices while the higher contain apartments which need more space than the office and get pleasure from the view of the historical city center.
To me, it's one of the most interesting building because even though is original and revolutionary shape it relates itself in a harmonic way with the historical city.
In the picture you can see the last 6 floors which seem floating in the air.
I did this photo thanks to the good zoom of my lens and I'm quite satisfied with the DOP considering the high zoom level I used! I hope you like it! |
