This could be a very good portrait photo if it wasn't cropped so small. You had to leave his chin in the photo :) Also, the right side of his face is too blury (only background could be left blurry). The photo lacks sharpness... Also, a bit of his cap on top left corner is a bit disturbing - could be left out or more of the cap would be better in the photo.
Black & white, of course, is classical and really good for portraits. Thus, point for this one! :)
