Common Piedicorte di Gaggio of High Corsica.
After having known as the majority of the villages a demographic explosion at the 19th century, Piedicorte which counted then more than 1000 inhabitants, knows to him also this phenomenon of rural turning into a desert. The totality of the hamlets was emptied today of the whole of its permanent inhabitants. There remains only one resident population of approximately 75 inhabitants. The summer the village finds more than 300 inhabitants.
Piedicorte-Di-Gaggio is the only Corsican village to have been victim of German bombardments at the time of the second world war. It was on September 22, 1943, these bombardments made nine dead. German aviation had decided to target this village because the area was a nest of resistant

La version large vaut le coup d'oeil :))
Je ne connais pas ce village.
Ta note est très intéressante et m'apprend qqc sur l'histoire de l'île :)) Merci ...
Cela dit, la Corse a eu sa part de souffrance pendant cette période même si elle n'a pas été beaucoup bombardée.
