This is my first attempt at photo stitching, so I would appreciate any suggestions you might have for me. The shot is distorted because of the perspective.
This was originally 3 photos, stitched together with Canon Photo Stitch. I had to tilt my camera way down to get the photo of the stage far below, as I stood at the rail of an upper balcony inside the theater.
The original Globe Theater, home to Shakespeare's famous plays, burned down in 1613. This is a modern reconstruction. They had to put sprinklers on the roof in order to get permission to make a real thatched roof, because a thatched roof is a fire hazard and most of the theater is made from wood. In this photo you can see the sprinklers sticking up in a row along the roof at the top left.
During the summertime you can attend a play in the Globe Theater. Just like in Shakespeare's Day, it is very inexpensive to buy admission to the standing area in front of the stage. Just be prepared in case it rains, because there is no roof over the standing area!
I visited during the off-season, when the theater is not used for performances. Instead, drama students from around the world come to rehearse in this famous theater, and of course tourists can walk through on guided tours. When I was there, a group of American high schoolers were rehearsing on stage. |
