Part of my Melbourne Grand Prix 2007 theme.

A bit experimental for me, trying a collage of two fisheye shots taken from my vantage point at the Melbourne Grand Prix last weekend.

When taking the snaps I didn't have an image like this in mind, I just saw the possibility when going through the photos just now.

The idea was to get an image showing the extent of the main grandstand and the starting/finish stretch of the race. The snaps were taken as the teams were about to set up for the start.

I know it's not perfect, but I like the concept and would appreciate advice should I try this thing again.

Shot in RAW, converted, two images put together, resized, sharpened, frame added (including down the middle, kinda like a 'book' effect) and some cloning to get rid of some nasties.

Good concept, unique angles, and gives a good (yet bent)idea of the scope of the grandstand. Interesting final product!

You did get the magazine effect here.

Hi Richard, I like your PP work here. Good angled shot(s), very interesting to see. Yes, I like the idea and I think it has come out really well.
Did you enjoy the racing and your time there?
Did you manage to see Federation Square? I enjoyed looking over those crooked buildings.
Cheers
Janice

What an orignal idea and concept.
I like the end result, i am a V8 support so this would have been a great thing to try there.
Does give you illusion of falling and definately brings out the vertigo - but also expands ourimagination and thinking and for that i thank you.

Well done, Tfs Tracey

Now that i've read your note, yeah, it looked like a book. Good idea and pp works. With a dizzying effect on me! lol!

Hi Richard,
I like the affect of this one, the first thing that comes to mind is that its a magazine or a mirror image shot. I like the pp work it makes for a very interesting image.
Tfs Andy

Hello down there !

Unusual but original experiment Richard !
A lot to see even if we have to lean our heads both ways to explore your photo (^_^).
You are a bit far to enoy the umbrella and flag girls (*_^).
Cheers!
Robert

WHOA there!! I'm dizzy!! I'm falling!! What a way to few the whole shooting match, that is if I can keep the dizzy's away! HAHA! The light is a bit harsh, tones are not even, HOWEVER, this is a new idea and I like it!

It's an great way to put a dynamic view! You broke the so classic view, who was anyway.. Nice and sharp! With good colors! But like that it bring more interest!
