This is another shot from my home studio shoot. Again, my tools here other than my camera were a blanket for a backdrop and a couple of desklamps for lighting. i was just experimenting with light and trying to work on composition and exposure. I hope you enjoy, and please let me know what you think.

Hi Jeremy,
Beautiful attitude and well contrasted composition.
Beautiful ligting.
Well done!

Bernard

Beautifully composed and B/W. Prety angle.
Regards, Tjutjut

Nice shot, the dark background and crisp quality makes her pop out at the viewer, and it emphasizes the silhouette and the pose she is making, which works very well for the shot. I love the use of black and white, and the tonality is good. I do feel, however, that she needs some more room above her head and foot at the left edge since the lack of negative space in those areas breaks the continuity of the composition. Beautiful tones though and I like her calm and elegant look and pose. I would have really liked to see this with a sleeker, more discrete chair to bring more focus on her in her formal dress. But very beautiful, and well-done. TFS!

Hi I don't know much about studio shots but i like the contrast of the white skin and the black BG.The unusual pose is catchy but i like to see the face more.TFS:)
Mel

Good composition and nice pose. B&W suits it. Very nice portrait.

hi jeremy,
to me that's a beautiful shot, particularly cos i've always wanted to try out something like that but never had a live willing model, nor the expertise. i like her profile, the posture and what she's wearing. again, i'm no pro but if i can give my 2 cents worth i think the 3rd leg of the chair is erm...i also feel her leg should be "grounded", just touching the ground for a more elegant feel.
still, u got it!

thanks for sharing,
kev

mmmmm..... how many studio lighting u use for this portrait ?
here my input:
you need minimum 3 flash with 3 softbox,
1st flash in the front left models, with soft box (if u have use octagonal 1,5mx1,5m with 3/4 power of flash, why ? u will have dramatic and nice soft lighting and its very good for skin tone from the model,
2nd flash in the back right with soft box 50cm x 1m with 1/2 or 1/4 power of light, why ? you need to get a dimention and high light in her right shoulder and her back,
3rd flast in the back left from model with soft box (anykind of softbox) with 1/8 power of lighting or more lower, why ? you need to get a dimention from her face rite ?
in the right top high back model, you need a little flash for get a hightlight for her hair.
and the last is styrofoam in the front right model to get a buonce back lighting to get dimention body, and left shoulder from model. thats all.
and have a nice try.... :) :) :)

Hey this is good - nice work with the light! Overall good consistency of light over your model's skin, interesting play of shadows on her back.
Your tripod may have been a little too high, there is a slight distortion, as if she was photographed from head-level or higher, and there's a small 'object' on the right-hand edge of the shot, just visible ...
But I'm being picky, this is looking good! Great innovative work, I've been struggling with home-lighting and budget setups for a year now and I know how challenging it can be!

Hi Jeremy,
Big improvement from the last one.
Maybe BW is helping.
Well done.
