OK, I am posting this because the bed is antique and romantic, and the place was really cool - but this is not a joke, I slept for 2 nights in this king-size bed in Vigan, on the west coast of north Luzon : the "cuarto del senor" in Villa Angela, a "heritage house" .
... and of course, it is not because Tom Cruise had slept (when he was much younger but already famous, during the shooting of I don't remember which film) in this large room that I chose this particular bed or that hotel, but rather because since some years, I cannot any more sleep in noisy environments, in fact I am obsessed with silence and this was the only reasonably quiet place that I could find in the whole city - still affordable, fortunately, because not that comfortable...
The room was huge and old fashioned, with antique furniture including a rocking chair, and many other mahogany objects - ornated mirrors, various cupboards, and a funny attached bathroom that I specially loved (although the tap was leaking).
The whole house was charming, secluded in a lovely garden ; a big compound, various lovely rooms, and many photo souvenirs on the walls, together with ancestors' portraits. I'll post other photos of such Vigan houses in the future.
I think that the place has been renovated since, it is probably more comfortable and certainly much more expensive nowadays - but silence is my only luxury and I can tell you, it can be terribly costly in some countries ! (in Santo Domingo recently, I ended up sleeping on the floor of the bathroom of a costly place, because the room was facing the street, which was very noisy too late at night...)
The photo of the living room in this same "heritage house" cum hotel can be seen here :

I would like to try to sleep in that bed at afternoon, not at nighttime.. lol! great sharpness and clarity on this picture, i can see the carvings on the headboard. Good use of natural lighting although i didnt like the noise in the left portion of the pic. TFS cath!

Hi Catherine, a great shot! I have the opposite problem, noise bothers me not at all, but I get obsessed with light. When the sun goes down, I'm done for the day having read a bit, I get obsessed with light not being in my room. It irritates me no end to go to a hotel room and have a bunch of streetlights shining through either the curtains or along the side of the window around them. It just frosts me. (I have big red heavy drapes over my bedroom window and blinds also to cut as much light as possible. ;) I reckon we all have these little obsessions, ;)
