[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
White's Tree Frogs are native to Australia, New Guinea, and Indonesia. They get their name from the first person to describe the species. Its appearance has also earned it the nicknames of Dumpy Tree Frog and Smiling Tree Frog. Their scientific name is Litoria caerulea. They have the ability to change their color, which varies between dark brown and a light blue-green.

The only reliable way to distinguish between sexes in this species is to wait until they reach sexual maturity at about one year of age. The males will then start calling for a mate.

In captivity, they will grow up to 5 inches in length, with females typically being larger than males. They can live 10+ years. Their diet in captivity consists of mostly live crickets, with an occasional variation of waxworms or mealworms. They should not be allowed to free feed, because they have a tendency to become obese.

These frogs are hardy captives and very good for beginners. The frog pictured is my pet, Axl.
