Melbourne’s new water-based playground

Situated on Victoria Harbour and along 3km of Yarra River frontage, Docklands is Melbourne’s new waterfront precinct.

With its spectacular harbour, brilliant buildings, stunning views, unique urban art, grand promenades, historical wharves, new marinas and parkland, Docklands is a sought-after destination in Melbourne.

Also offering a great selection of award winning restaurants, stylish bars and cool cafes, Docklands is a great place in which to live, work and visit.

Spend long summer days or cosy winter nights enjoying the Docklands harbourside dining experience. Indulge in the freshest seafood, innovative modern Australian, Mediterranean or Asian inspired creations right on the waterfront. Docklands precincts NewQuay, Victoria Harbour, Yarra’s Edge, and Waterfront City offer cafes, restaurants and bars with breathtaking views.

A year round visitor destination with an annual calendar of events, Docklands boasts Christmas festivities, New Year’s Eve and Australia Day celebrations, Summer Boat Show, as well as food, wine, art, fashion and sporting events.

Melbourne Docklands is right on the city's doorstep and linked to the city by excellent public and private transport, and bicycle and pedestrian connections. During Summer the Yarra River Shuttle Service also provides an excellent link into Docklands.

At 200 hectares, the Docklands site is about the same size as the Melbourne CBD. Its distinctive precincts will be developed progressively over the next 12 to 15 years. The various precincts create a diversity of use, ranging from residential to retail, technological to leisure, and from offices to entertainment. Development is being strategically staged so each one complements its neighbour as well as the project in its entirety, ensuring Docklands offers something for everyone.

Hi Pam,
A perfect nocturnal shot, nice warm colours and enough details although I'm not sure about the blue lina in the black frame, but that might be quite personal. Anyway a superb posting. TFS!
Hans

An excellent nocturnal Pam. Well composed and very good colour and light. It has been many a long year since I actually looked around Melbourne rather than just pass through the airport. Perhaps a day tour across Bass Strait may be in order. TFS,
David
