Opening day of the neighborhood pool, couldn't have asked for better weather. Laughter in the distance, towels hanging out to dry in back yards, the sun shining bright, but a distant rolling thunder brings on the silence.
Quickly the sun is hidden behind the clouds. Down came the rain and yes, hail. A flash of lighting a clap of thunder directly over head sent every one running for cover in their SUV’s.
Don’t forget to put on your sunscreen!

Wow! This is a really big thunderstorm!! What a like the best is to see all the little drop of water.... very clearly! Nice to put it in black and white, make it more dramatic. To not see all the tree at the right show that is a continuity!!
You was outside or inside to do this pic?
Good work!
Genevieve

yes, I'll do that! and I'll be outside, of course.
thanks, laura, not too many people love powerful storms.

Ah, such is the beauty of global warming. Great capture of this storm and those wind-blown trees. The black and white emphasizes the grim or disappointing news of that weather, and I really like how the houses in the background are faded-looking and lighter in tonality, to make the trees and hail really pop out. Were you indoors taking the shot through a window? Great point of view and good tonalities. The framing and composition is pretty good too, although maybe the mass of the leaves on the left-hand tree are blown a bit too much in the center of the shot. But great photo, I am glad we don't have hail here (knock on wood). TFS!

Good rendition of the mood of that day...

Laura,
I love thunderstorms too. This is well done and I like the black-and-white version. It adds more drama. Good composition. It looks like a fierce storm.
Welcome to TL. :)
Linda

Hi,Laura!
A handsome shot.It looks fresh in this stifling weather here. Yet, it seems to me a colour version would convey more dramatism.
TFS
Valerka:)
