This afternoon my husband noticed this caterpillar wriggling it's way into a cocoon which was anchored onto our fence. I came running with my camera and with-in minutes it had shaken it's way down and sealed off the entrance. I've now placed it in a jar and will keep watching, hopefully to see the emergence!
Thanks for looking folks. |

Hi Pat,
This is amazing natural history in the making. Well captured, and I like the sequencing to tell the story. Fascinating creatures, I never knew they cocooned themselves this way, you'll have to get Brian staring at fences more often!
Cheers

Hi Patricia
This looks like the larvae of a case moth. I took photos of the same thing hanging from my ribbonwood tree several years ago. They are certainly fascinating wee creatures.
Cheers

Great Photo Pat of Life in Motion, wouldn't it be amazing if we humans could change into something that had wings, it would be cheaper than airfares travelling and going to work in the car :-)
