The Himalayan Blue Poppy, a member of the genus Meconopsis, is a variety of poppy found in and around the Himalayan regions of Asia. First discovered in southeastern Tibet in 1886, the poppies were introduced to Canada a few years later when they were planted at The Butchart Gardens in Victoria, British Columbia. They are notorious for being extremely difficult to grow.
This photo was taken at The Butchart Gardens in late May. |
