| I'm posting this even though I could not execute what I had in mind. I thought the pancake theme was a really tricky one. Pictures of pancakes strike me as being dull more often than not. I used a piece of glass and some black cardboard with a hole in it underneath. I put the pancake over the hole, and planned to cut stars and moons into it, and then light it from below and use some steam blown from the side to create light trails coming through the pancake. But as you can see it was too transparent, and therefore there was not enough contrast for the steam to show up in the light. Also it turned out to be difficult to cut stars, so I had to settle for triangles, and now it looks more like a pie, though I assure you it is a pancake. I used a bounce flash off a piece of green cardboard to put some colour into the surrounds. |

Great idea. To bad that you could not make it work this time around. But don't worry, there will be other pancakes...
I agree that pancakes do not make the most interesting subjects and I think you came up with an original idea but probably need a few more pancakes before you get the shot you have in your mind.
Cheers,
