[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This old bull, an Oryx (Oryx Gazella), is standing and contemplating what was once his kingdom.

By the marks on his coat, one can tell his life was filled with events, most of which were to establish himself as a ruler.

Now he is old, his kingdom overthrown. He is in the winter of his life.

Bonjour Dirk,
Le portrait de cet Oryx en noir et blanc est sobre, c'est une très belle composition.
La petite note nous plonge dans une belle histoire, c'est agréable

Bonne journée.

Hi Dirk! Such great perspective. I love the comp, the dark subject in an expanse of the light savana. It's like a still photo of a movie clip. TFS,
Freddie :)

Very nice picture. Great cropping and frame. Nice tones, details, and good note also.
:)

Hi Dirk,

This is one excellent composition! I love the way the Oryx looks into the emptiness in this shot.
Would love to see the colored version of this photo as well, not to say though that this B&W conversion is not to my liking.
The framing could be improved IMHO by having the black top match the one on the bottom.
Anyway: great posting of this magnificent and beautiful animal.

Regards,

Edwin

I tend to be rather conservative with the format of the photo and mostly prefer to stick to the original ratio but this panorama format works to great effect here. The black and white works well, although I expect the color version to look good to. The sobre composition of the lonely Oryx against the emptiness is great and really makes the photo.
