I hope everyone is OK placing a garden rake into "artwork" category.
I stumbled across this while wading through a creek full of junk, mostly from the 1950s & 1960s. I was appalled at the amount of metal and concrete rubbish — particularly auto parts — filling an otherwise pristine stream.
I pulled this rake from the water and placed it on a stripped tree trunk to hold it steady and to give contrasting colour and texture to the dark metal.
I cropped it to centre the tines and converted to black-and-white to get rid of annoying colour splotches (I had accidentally left the camera on VIVID colour mode).
I like the result. A lack of depth cues makes one wonder if the wood is before the metal or not. |
