Out for a walk, I managed to catch this half of a pair of cardinals flitting about this well pump. I missed the male with brighter plumage, but this female was happy to pose for me.

PP work--I spent time adjusting colors, brightness, contrast, etc., but ultimately came back to the original shot. I liked the counterpoint of the tall piece of grass, and the sunlight playing on the background. I wondered about cloning the light greenery in the foreground, but thought it pulled the light through the shot. I'm interested in your thoughts.

Hello Karen,
You showed me a very good moment here class colors and sharp detail. A beautiful picture.
Greetings.

Hello Karen
Let me tell you right away that overall it is an 8 on 10 scale photo!!
Remarks, here we are distracted by two subjects, the plant left and the bird right! The focus is unfortunatly on the plant .. the bird is a little unsharp because that.. Again .. still a pleasent photo !
You know what ?? Funny fact .. while I am typing this I have a telephone conversation witgh a new TL member *Jens* from Denmark .. and we where discussing your shot.
So .. call it an international Jury act from Europe :-)

Have a great weekdnd and bye for noe..

Nice compo; a decisive moment!

Very good capture. Too bad the focus was not on the bird :-).
And I find the plant in the FG belongs there.

Great catch! I like the limited depth of field you used to accent the subject and counter-point. Good angle, too. You managed to use the shaded background to further accent your subject. I think you may see a slight improvement if you went ahead and cloned the blurred grass out of the foreground. Sometimes, I'll just move something aside with my hand while shooting the picture if I notice it in the frame.

Hi Karen,
A striking picture, very brave not to crop this image, the details makes this picture very attractive! The cardinals on the tap is striking! Great presentation my dear Karen!

Hi Karen...composition has a nice balance here. The colors of the bg is very nice and the sunlit sppot is very attractive IMO. I believe the bird is in pretty good focus...just needs the highlights brought down a tad. It's a nice shot Karen..you're lucky to have the oppurtunity. We do have these in my neck of the woods but I have to yet seen seen one.
