today is 2 years on TL for me and i thought that something totally different would be the image choice for today

no concepts or abstract meanings...

just a beautiful creature and her handler

she is a Great Horned Owl who had been wounded as a fledgling falling from the nest resulting in a badly broken and unusable wing

she was rescued by a hunter who called a local sanctuary for birds of prey who nursed her back to health and she now helps educate people about Great Horned Owls

thanks for ALL the support, comments and most of all the friendships i gained over the past two years

looking forward to the future..........

Love and Peace Always!!!!!!

Great shot of the owl. The handler however, who is out of focus and looks somewhere else, is not a great addition to the image. I would try a square format emphasizing the bird and its beautiful yellow eyes.

Hi Kevin, Beautiful shot of the owl. The man distracts as he is looking away. Maybe crop the owl closely and post this one with just the owl. Murray.

Beautiful composition, nice tones Kevin

Continue to keep your eyes opened for new moments to capture for years to come and share beautiful images with us. Congratulations on the anniversary!

The owl's expression is quite entertaining.

And a wonderful two years, hopefully there will be many "anniversaries" on TL to celebrate. Excellent capture of those incredible eyes. Often when we think of amazing eyes we think of humans', but we often forget that the creatures with the most stunning and diverse eyes are animals! They are so piercing they could be eerie. Really good rich tones and colors and excellent focus on the owl. I am wondering though if you wanted to include her handler (who is an incredibly important person and the reason the owl is taken care of) without letting him distract too much from the main subject, you might have wanted to use a shallower depth of field so that the handler is a bit more out-of-focus. I think also the cropping of his hat takes away from the continuity of the shot. But really wonderful point of view that is just slightly lower than the owl to play on scale and make the owl look large and majestic. Good too with her at the side of the shot for balance. The contrasts and detail on the owl are stunning. Really great shot and good note with it too. TFS!

Fantastic shot Kevin! Not speaking about techniques here - those are perfect, the subject and the story behind it is what deserving attention! I wish more folks were so considerate and compassionate as the guy you photographed.
Excellent shot!
