… on a hiking trail in the South of Belgium (Ardenne region).

Littérature… sur un sentier de randonnée dans le sud de la Belgique (Ardenne belge).

Literatuur… op een wandelpad in de Belgische Ardennen.

Postprocessing:
- saturation change in order to make the leaves on the ground standing out better
- contrast + 20, in order to create a “stronger” impression of putrefaction
- sharpened after resizing for TL

And… this is my first upload of a photo taken with the first digital camera I ever bought ;-). I guess I still have to practise a lot in order to handle this camera well. So, all your comments, critiques and suggestions are warmly welcomed!

destroyed literature :P but the picture is great.

An image with emotion, so important and yet so often discarded in photography, like the colours. Sad, books are like old and good friends to me, thanx, M, (*_*)

Erik you are on the right track with the new camera - you have done very well with this capture - good composition and DOF. Impressive.

Hello again Erik!

i have to say that i like that picture the most of all in your gallery!

it is so great and now i have about three other things in my mind to say in the same time, hope i won`t lose any :o)

so! firstly- i love the colouts and the way they are shown at this picture!
1.gray-black, rocky ground gives a good contrast to the "story" on the photo,
2.white book "eaten" by the ground which indicates that books are so fregile when you compare with the nature- even ground is so strong and powerful-with time desrtoys everything.
3. and finally green grass and leaves around dying book- for me they show something alive on that picture, give very good contrast and focuse your eye on them! i think without them that picture wouldn`t be do powerful!

impressively perfect!

secondly, that picture shows how the nature is powerful, only it knows when to give and when it is time to take something- for example life!

thirdly, and the less important- i love books, when i was realy young, i used to go to the attic and find an old old books from my parents and grands times.. they were so imperfect, so dusty and yelow because of the time; even i didnt understand what they were about i loved them.. and i loved old smell of the pages!

i think that is why i so like your dirty book on that picture, i don`t know how it would be with the smell, but............ ;o)

in addition(this thing came to my mind just now) you did here great processind as saturation and contrast! youe eye is doing very well with yourcamera!

Kindly kind regards/ Pozdrawiam

Maya

Hmm.. I am surprised I missed this one Erik!!

I just seen it in your "random photos" and really liked it! Fantastic what you can find if you really look!!
Even some things that would be called "ugly" make great pictures.
The decomposition on this literature is interesting and very cool. Colors and tones are spot on, and great details.
Well done!

Leanne
