This is the Hapuka Estuary in South Westland. The Tasman Sea had been slowly flowing across the sand bar at high tide leaving marks in the gravel.
Soon after this picture was taken we had a big flood and this is now the mouth of the river. |

Hi Neroli,
What a lovely scene, the early morning light shows off all the textures of the beach, the trees and the mountains. The soft warm tones look like a painting.
