[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hello my Trek friends,

Up to now my pics have mostly been of nature, recently I decided to try something new and try to get some portraits. This is a freind of mine called Pete Firth I think he has alot of character in his face and would make a good place to start my portrait collection. The picture was'nt posed I just sneakly got this while he was talking to someone eles.

I have ajusted the contrast and brightness a little and resized for TL.

Let me know what you think.

Cheers
Tom

... and the elder we get, the more one can read! Hmm, I soon will be able to tell a whole book!

:-)

Tom, this is really a great portrait, very expressive and strong. From the technical point of view, in my opinion, the contrast is a bit too hard. I would lighten just a bit the darks and soften the lights. But this is very personal.

Have a nice day! And many hugs to James...

Hiya Tom

I havent really tried portraits aside from animal ones so I cant comment on the techy side but from my POV its a great shot and a good start to your collection

TFS regards helen

Hi,Tom,
I guess, you are right, Tom, to entitle your photo like this. Haven't you tried a slightly different angle and sepia? Sepia is rewarding in portrayal.

Valerka:)

Great shot! Brilliantly captured and very expressive, with a good use of a featureless background. I like the pp work, the increased contrast really works. The only criticism I have is maybe the bottom half inch or so could be cropped to get rid of the blurred area in the foreground ;-D. But all in all, a great portrait.

Hi Tom! I like his pose, the lights and shadows are complementing it, showing the lines on his face. A bit overexposed on some parts but it's negligible. I like how you framed him. The saturation is effective and I like the dark BG.

Freddie :)

A very striking shot, I agree with John though, just crop off the bottom bit to get rid of the blurred part, otherwise excellent.

Cheers, Dad

Hi Tom,

It's a successful portrait picture. Your friend's face discribes much emotional expressions. Good work.

W wonderfully intense photo here of your friend! Love his unposed gaze, nice colors and details! The dark BG makes it very nice indeed!

Hi Tom,

Excellent work, so natural....good first try, not expert in these type of shots but I think it is a great portrait well done.
