This is the Okuru Estuary and the trees were planted by one of the early settlers, Joe Collyer. He walked overland from Hokitika in about 1890 and settled on 50 acres of land at Okuru. He set up the first schools in the area, one at Okuru and the other at the mouth of the Haast River (about ten miles apart). He taught three days a week at each school and his only day off was spent walking along the beach between his schools. He was also the the ferryman on the Okuru River and later the harbour master when a small wharf was built where this picture was taken.
This was picture was taken in the evening with clearing skies and not a lot of good light. |

Good job with a straight horizon. I think if you desaturated it, and gave it a big frame that it would still look good. Nice reflection.

Nearly all B&W - quite a stunning scene Neroli. I love the silver look to the sky, and how the mountain is peaking through the clouds. And the reflections - great!
