From the same session as Gaya V - using more subdued background and light (although essentially the same lighting setup - but I moved the lights closer for more depth.)

I've included a couple of alternatives in the WS, including an alternative pose and alternative crop. I chose this one for the space, and I like the subtle smile she offers here.

Once again any suggestions and feedback welcomed.

Hello Rew,

Gaya is a very beautiful lady and your job is great.
Congratulations!
Sergio

I like this a lot better, rew. The closer crop and the dark background make this an altogether classier shot in my opinion. The gold necklace is a great feature and lifts the whole image. Also, for some reason, Gaya seems more comfortable...

Any chance of her feedback on the two shots, which one she prefers?

Hello Rew.

Excellent framing.
The lights and tones suit well to the lovely expressions of the model.
Well done.

Haha, well I'll have to say Gaya looks just amazing in all of these shots. I really love the way her skin tones came out, even with the darker background (remember how I liked her skin tones in the previous upload with the white background?). The focus and details are amazing, you really get a sense of the textures of her hair and skin, the lips, the jewelry even, and gold looks awesome on people with darker skins too. Gorgeous work on the lighting, which makes her hair, eyes, and lips as well as her jewelry shine beautifully, and this makes the shot eye-catching and dynamic. I agree, I love her expression here too, because of that subtle smile you mentioned and how engaged she is with the viewer. I like the intimimacy of the closer crop for sure, as the focus here seems to be the textures and eyes and jewelry on her bare skin. Very clear and sharp, and the compositions are very strong in all of them, but especially in this shot and the "alternative crop" workshop. While I love her hair and the unique quality of "alternative pose" I find that this one composition and expression-wise are stronger. Really good tones and metering too because her dark hair is not at all blending in with the dark background, there is a clear distinction. Awesome highlights on the curve and contours of her neck, hair, shoulder line, and the jewelry at the right side. Nice vertical cropping and just the right amount of bent arm in there to make sense without disrupting the composition. Really good work here Rew!

Another nice one Rew.
Who turned the light on the white background off?
Just kidding,
Pete.

Hi Rew. A stunning model you have here. Those dark eyes are amazing. Good colours and tones throughout and no issues of concern. The gold necklace is a big asset for the wow factor. Good series. TFS. Murray.

Hi Rew,
I think this BG suits the model better than the right one. The beautifull tones of her eyes, hair and face are better supported here. Thanks very much for showing us some of the techniques used to create this light situation. Very interessting work with perfect results. HAve a great day. Thomas

Nicely done, Rew...great lighting and tones. Very nice composition.

Roger

Hi Rew!
Very good portrait,sexy pose.
Cheers.

That sure is a beautiful model, Rew. It's a nice series, I like all three images in this post. The frontal view is my favourite, but the others come very close.
TFS

this time I prefer the alternative, tighter crop; as to the pose - well, what else can models do? ;-) to me it does not really matter..

Hello Rew.
What a gorgeous portrait you made of Gaya again.!
I'm sure many painters like to make an oilpainting of this photo.
Take good care about copyrights. This is worth a lot of money.
Really Excellent, my friend.

Great work as usual .
The necklace is a very nice touch. It emphasises the softness of the skin but also leads the eye downwards.

Hi Rew,

You have make her a star!!! what a gem!!! She look gorgeous with her skin colours as well as the gold chain is a strong contrast to show her off. great lighting and colours, perfect shot!!! Well done my dear.

Thanks for sharing

Cheers,
Sweety

I think she is so beautiful!! I like the "alternative pose" because it's dead on, honest, no smile (which is like, it's more natural) almost CHALLENGING..saying "you think I'm bad, you have no idea!" HA! I like the attitude of AP....but this is wonderful! Nice skin tones!
Linda
I'll be back.........B-)

hi Rew...
love your lighting and shadow in this photo.
really nice and good. and also for focus and detail... wow... great (see on her neckless),
tfs
Haldian

well i was going to not comment this one
but i saw the alternate crop...
and... WOW
500% more impact !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
on the version uploaded it's not enough close
the alternate crop IMO is near of perfect, great difference between both versions of the same shot !
regards
jo

Hi Rew,
it took time to decide to write the critique. After I saw this shot, I knew something disturbed here... Now ready to write... *s*

First the one and only issue which stopped me - the strong disturbance comes here from necklace. We are used to woman wearing jewels, so it took some time to me torealise that the necklace here is a mistake. Why? Well, you used fantastic, soft light creating incredibly soft skin with only few reflections emphasizing the face shapes and than you put on her a bright (too bright!), higly reflecting object. This took away part of intimate, even slightly erotic mood which created the light, her expression with mysterious half-smile as well as her gestures. The skin texture brings on my mind an oil painting - this photo looks almost like a painting. As of different crop: I think that this one is the best. Tighter crop makes her too close, in some way I could say even pushy. THe wider crop instead leaves too much space making the photo a bit dull. So this one is optimal imho. My rating of this photo is around 1.6 - 1.7 points (-0.4 - -0.3 for the necklace... ;-P) tfs

Marek

Hello Rew, splendid gallery, I like your photographs very much, on this one which superb eyes, splendid lighting, very nice portrait of this splendid young lady,
a great cheer,
Pat

Good close up, nice and sharp, wirth softness where it counts. You seem to have coaxed a hint of smile from her...
Cheers
Otto

She is beautiful
And you show that very well with this portrait
fine skin tones and pose
Ruud

Rew, Gaya has a beautiful face; I would focus on it!
The arm up and around is distracting in this pose. Looks like a sawed-off stump.
There is way more skin from shoulder and arm than there should be in a good presentation.
The necklace is nice but not essential. Gaya does not need to be adorned. A smaller part will be fine. I tried an alternate. See WS. She is a beautiful woman and you need to bring that out.

Best regards, Jay

Great portrait Rew! I envy your lighting set up!! All of your portraits shine out as great to me. Thanks for comment on Solarized Hummer. TFS your great work too! :} Don

What a beautiful photograph! I don't think the lighting could have been better; the skin tones are perfect. And what a lucky fellow you are to have such a beautiful model.
