Creepy Crawlies: DOF Exercise
After the tropical rain, this very common millipede? (although not that many feet) comes out. I took a lotta shots to practice focusing on this animated subject. I was sweating in the cold weather after chasing this tiny critter along a street curb and pavement. It's too fast so I touched it a bit so it could stop and recoil for my cam. I hope you like it :)

FYI: No millipede was harmed in shooting these images :)

Composition:
The exif data in each image is lost because of the composition and I forgot to append those exif data in one pic. I'll put it here soon but I remembered the F-Stop is 2.8 in all of the 4 shots :)

Pp work:
1. crop
2. arrange the images on a white BG
3. sharpen the focused details
4. resize

Quote of the Day:
"Out in the field I try not to hold expectations. I try to achieve an openess. The senses heighten so that I am totally immersed in what's happening at the moment. I want to be receptive to an image coming together." -Keith Lazelle

excellent macro work.
Bravo

very nice experiment with perspective in macro work
also the combination, the compostion works very well
excellent work fred

Hi Fred,
I like the four photos and the shallow DOF in all of them. Each photo has good details and exposure. I do not understand the title, since you used the same aperture in each photo. An exercise in my eyes means different settings of the same composition.
Anyway, the photos are still very nice. My most favorites are the three where there is no sky.
TFS,
Niek

Great effects. The shallow DOF works well, your sharpness is spot-on and the colours are excellent. Great work as always.

Rew

Une vraie photo de Lens, super le jeu des quatre image, les vers , ne sont pas mon animal préféré mais sur photo c'est surprenant , belle captation...

Hi Freddie,
I like the subjuct here, a lot bigger that our native millipede, it is intereesting to look at and the colour and sharpness are good but the DOF on these looks the same and looking at your note is the same, so how is this an experiment in DOF, maybe Millipede after the rain would have been better.
Tfs Andy

Hi Fred,
Very nice mocro vith excellent collage.TFS

Hi Fred,

Great presentation . . You did great creating this kind of composition . . Very sharp images . . Well done . .

Tfs,
Tjutjut

Many thanks for your kind words on Endangered species.

Hie Fred,

Whoa, and ewww, actually i'm very sensitive to those creepy crawlers more so this milipede's feets look like a centipede's spreading out..but this is a good presentation. :D P.S I've replied your thread about your trip to asia. take a look.

TFS,
Hong

Maybe they are not harmed, but I don't think they are amused !! ;-)
Nice experiment with useful results. Good colors and sharpness.
Did you know that you can eat them?
greetings,
Joop!

Interesting collection of pictures - like Suntoucher though I'd have been tempted to try different apertures to demonstrate a real exercise/experiment.
Of the 4 pictures the top right is the weakest, and DOF doesn't really work, and the other 3 are all interesting to look at, with some good details and textures.
Thanks for sharing
Mark

Ewww!!! hehehe nice dof, lovely colors, though on the right upper side of the image, i guess i would prefer the focus on the front of the snap..Allin all great macro shot

TFs,
Grace

Fred, great exercise indeed.

The series shows the creature well; great montage.

Interesting collage of macros showing various depths of field. Well done.

TFS!
Reid

You have four very fine images of the millipede. I'm glad you did'nt hurt the little fellow.

He give you a good exercise! It was a great opportunity to practice. Animals in movement give some good challenge to play and you present result who please me! The reflection of the landscape including you i believe on it's dark surface. I enjoy the precision of it!

Cool Compilation Fred!
