[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I was at piha when i saw this lonely shell on the beach. It was tiny like only 1cm wide and it was just sitting there in the sand, i think it is quite effictive how it pops out of the sand a bit. Picture taken in colour then changed to b&w.

Hi Luke,
Welcome to TL.
I like the subject and the idea of B&W. You have the eye and you're a good observer of your surroundings.But here you made a failure almost every beginner make. Your subject is too much in the middle. A violation on the "rule of thirds".

I would've also tried to show more beach towards the horizon. just to accentuate the open space this shell is lying in.
Investigate and experiment! it's fun. ;-)
