Rothersthorpe Flight
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Instead of the river, today's image was taken on the Grand Union Canal, which also flows through Northampton.
This the last of 13 locks, in the space of about half a mile, known as the Rothersthorpe Flight.
Some people have commented that they appreciate my notes, and as this one has a bit more work in it than most of my images, here goes:
With the Camera:
Circular Polariser, and Grey Graduated filters.
Photoshop:
Select Sky, adust levels.
Select Land, adust levels
"Shadows and Highlights" adust, (twice)
Color balance adjustments
Increase saturation.
Sharpen, then fade sharpen to 50%
Neatimage.
Remove some noise in sky
Photoshop again
Apply the "Orton Image" technique to create the soft, painterly effect. Then quite a lot of burning and dodging to seperate areas to get it looking even, and bring out the detail.
(I've put the non-orton version in the workshop for comparison)
Photofiltre:
Add borders and text, resize.
Photoshop:
Save for web.
If I understood Photoshop better I could do it all without jumping between all the different programs, but there go - Maybe one day! |
