| Although Portland Head Light is the world's most photographed lighthouse, the typical perspective is the lovely face it presents against the sea. I thought you might enjoy seeing the other side -- a fine instance of architecture in its own right and an often busy spot with traffic both by land and by sea. |

Hi Jim,
Nice scenery shot. Cool and calm.

Jim, wonderful view of Portland Head Lighthouse! I spent two years in Wisconsin, mainly in Milwaukee, and photographed lighthouses up and down the coast of Lake Michigan, from Kenosha and Racine to the uppermost part of Door County. I fell in love with these old structures. My aim was to publish a book of Wisconsin Only Lighthouses, but after a year and some 28 lighthouses, the publishers I was working with canceled my contract saying that those Coffee Table Type Books just don't sell anymore. In retrospect I had a great time for a year capturing some beautiful lighthouse photos. I never got around to this one, but it was on my list of "to do" shots. That was until the money ran out. This is a great shot, which I will copy and download into my archive files. Of course it won't be used anywhere unless I have your permission to do so. In which case I will contact you. Check out a few of the lighthouse photos I have posted on TrekLens. Every Friday I add another one. Thank you so much!
