Very good abstract photograph. Have you tried taking it in black and white? I think it could be just as interesting!

A common theme but done very well!

The composition gives perfect symmetry. I love the lighting conditions you have chosen, it accentuated the curves.

With a compact you can focus closer but still have the right DOF if you want the stairs right in front in focus.
