Beach Pillar
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
| Taken not long after dawn on the beach to the west of Lyme Regis in Dorset. Someone had obviously spent a great deal of time to build this 4 metre high pillar entirely from rocks. The spaces between the rocks have been packed with small pebbles where necessary to keep the pillar vertical and stable. I use the "Architecture" category somewhat tongue in cheek! The Dorset coast, from Lyme Regis to Swanage is known as the Jurassic Coast because of the huge number of fossils to be found here. Fossils can still be found, the best time to look for them is at the base of the cliffs after storms. Be careful though, the cliffs are very unstable in places and rock falls/mudslides are not unknown. Cropped and straightened, resized for uploading. A polarising filter was used on the lens. |

Hello Les
Nice image here with a good POV. Shame its not a larger size though. Is that the moon I see at the top of the image?
Good colour and nicely framed as portrait.
TFS regards Helen
Nice shot, good colours and an interesting PoV.Might have been better with the whole of the pillar's shadow in though.
Hi Dad,
Good shot altough JJ is right about the shadow. Also mabey a lower POV would have worked better so the distracting BG doesnt take away from the pillar so much.
Cheers
Tom
