It is sad to see the buildings deteriorate like this. But this barn doesn't look too bad at all - comparing it to NZ standards. NZ had mostly wooden houses and farm sheds built 100+ years ago, and they have rotted quicker than these would. Many of our old farmhouses are in very bad disaray.
Well composed Scott. You have fttted both buildings in the shot perfectly - and the sky is certainly beautiful. Interesting notes too.
Cheers

hi Scott - I like the POV here, there is almost a "v" shape formed by the buildings with us, the viewers, at the apex. That appeals to me very much. I love the intesnse blue of the sky but for some reason the positioning of the cloud bothers me, coming out of the side of the building. Aesthetically I'd have preferred it more overhead - couldn't you have waited a bit? :-)
Seriously, a well composed and well balanced shot with great colours and detail. Good note as well!

Hi Scott,
Superb colours and sharpness in this picture. Such simple subject, so well captured and presented. The composition is excellent, with the large barn in the FG and the three smaller (increasing in size) in the BG. All together an attractive presentation my friend!

Scott,
I have some long range photo's of this but nothing like this. I like the Point-Of-View here as well as the colors.
I think this was a very neat barn and clever of you to capture it from this angle.
Nice capture of the whispy clouds....the day was perfect for landscape photography. I cannot wait to see your white barn shot from Carlinville posted here to accompany this one.
Happy Birthday! (a day late)

Hi Scott,
This is one of the things I like so much about the US, the many abondoned buildings one can find in the landscape. Here in western Europe most are taken down before you have a change to capture them.
I like the sky in this photo a lot, and how it contrast with the rusty roof and the brown wood and brickwork. The fact that you got so much empty space around the barn gave you the perfect POV and composition.

Niek

Hello Scott,
That barn seems to be able for a few more years...
A fine construction with bricks for the ground storey!
Good point of view and a great composition, I like the emphasis on the barn with the residential unit in the back...
Good colours and a wonderful sky!

Hi Scott,
A rare, old style barns, this kind of construction don´t exist here.I lioke the perspective you´ve chosen. Echoes from another times.

Hernán
Nicely done Scott. I'm glad to see you found some interesting subjects in the midwest. I like these a lot. I hope you got some of the farmhouse in the bg, because I like that a lot, too. IMHO I would crop a bit from the top, and make a bit more of a pano crop, because I don't see much interest in the sky, and it would give it more of a flat plains/prairie feeling, and emphasize the deeling of the 16mm more. But I do like this a lot.
