Ok so this is just a snap shot and not my usuall type of image, but their is a point.
Of latter weeks and months i've seen argued many times the point that people posting rubbish and making no effort with regards their image are bringing the reputation of the site in general down. Tonight I went for a walk with the camera only to find, and not for the first time, that i'd left the house to late for the good light and did'nt have much in the way of options at all, and then I thought i'd take a few snap shots of any old crap and see how good I could get them to look, mainly to play around with something new in Photoshop, but also with the aforementiopned arguments in mind.
So this is my piece of garbage, and I personally dont think this is too bad of an image all in all, but I definately think that with a little effort (about 3 mins)a decent look can be achieved, i'm not trying to come across as patronising but am hoping to proove a point to some people that put absolutely no effort or pride into their pics.

I'm really not bothered about points here, just your opinions and honest thoughts about this.

PP Resized, saturation boost, levels boosted slightly, sharpened, and framed to give it a little more on the presentation front. And thats it, as I said, not a lot of effort, but from a snap shot, to something that some (ok not all)will like.

Hiya Dean

I do like this, sunsets always go down well but what sways this for me is the POV is unusual and in addition to that some of ther terminals are not in sihouette which makes it much more interesting. So I have to join the ones that do like this :-)

Neat framing matches and enhaces the image pefectly

TFS regards Helen

not your usual type of image, but a great image... ;) love the colours and all the image composition... congratulations...

simple composition but very beautiful
the colours in the sky makes it really powerful

Garbage or not I really think this is a very nice image Dean... Love the colors in the sky and the silhouetted powerlines..... very nice composition!

so... shoot more garbage! LOL

Cheers,
Anneke

hi dean, i know what you mean, some people have no clue of how to post a good image, the skies here look amazing (colorws too) and the sillouette is great as it makes for a good title and gives purpose to the shot, simple and quick maybe but works well, thanks scott

Hi Dean,
I don't think this is garbage Dean! Experiment is a total succes! Great composition, excellent colours. An intrigue composition my friend, so you see sometimes even crap looks good :-)

Vertainly NOT garbage here Dean! Outstanding contrast, nice colors! I like the tight crop! Very nice indeed....and Psssstt...don't listen to the rantings and arguings of some folks. You DO TrekLens and leave the fighting to those who can't!
B-)
Linda

You have very successfully proved the point - well done. You know of course that it's a lot easier when you just stop fighting...

Instead, you could just set up a few favourite photographers in your browser's favourites, that way you can categorize them and others don't have to know who your faves are.

The merit or otherwise of the different styles on here are always going to be perceived in the eye of the beholder. But as you say, regardless of whether you personally like what's being attempted or not, it's easy to see which images have had effort put into them and which haven't.

Just consider it one of the perils of the site being free.

Hi Dean - well done in posting this image and proving an excellent point: with a little thought an effort mundane objects/scenes can be turined into intersting images. Balanced composition, colours and tones managed nicely and the whole image is clean and crisp. A good, instructional posting.

Hi Dean,

And I'm looking for the little birdie sitting somewhere on the line... Power and nature :-). But you talk about the clouds I now see!
You're right though. I'm more active on TE, but there as well as here on TL there is a lot of crap posted. Anyhow, you will not get an honest opinion of me on this shot. I'm an energy engineer and I love it when power utilities are well composed in a shot. Your wonderful background made it a picture that would do well on many websites related to energy. And yes, simple post processing described there!

Greetings,
Dennis

Nicely done. Just plain things can be photographed well and often require little time to process & make good looking. This is good in that the comp is very strong.

I agree some people post rubbish just to post something, I try not to post anything I'm not happy with.
But this post is not rubbish, a very interesting photo of an every day power pole.
great light colours and exposure

Great geometries and colours. TFS. K2

I think it's brilliant Dean !
The composition is well executed and the lighting in the sky is superb !
Well done. Best regards, Daniel.

Hello Dean!

Just a snap ! Perhaps I would love to see more snaps like this on TL. A superb composition and sight on this sunset sky.
Well seen and positively extremely well captured. Simple effective silhouette with the various shapes and lines.

Bravo!
Robert

Hello Dean
This is a lovely silhouette set against a very good sky...its an interesting view and one that isnt unique but it is a lot more than a snapshot...In all honesty I hope you spent the 3 mins in PP more on the image opposed to the crap frame...I reckon you could have used the available uploadable pixel length on the image itself giving more details.
All the Best
Paul
