[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This a second of about five shots I plan to post from Shell Beach in the Sonoma Coast. The first one is here. This shot was taken a few moments after the first one as the sun was quickly "closing" for the day on the pacific coast. My only regret here is the two rocks and the wave in the background. Unfortunately, they are not kissed by the golden light due to a much larger rock to the right of the frame. Perhaps there is a way I could improve this in PS. Any suggestions? I'm very happy with the foreground so all is not lost. :)

PP: Processed from RAW with photoshop.
Cloned out water spots and smudges (the best I could), re-size for TL, and sharpen.

Hi Mike,

the lighting in this shot is lovely and I don't think it really matters about the rock and sea in the shadow as the rest of the shot carries it off. however I did have a go at a workshop to see if I could bring out any detail. I did it quite quickly so it is a little rough but see what you think!

Lovely light and detail.

Personally I think the breaking wave between the rocks in the background is a fantastic touch: the fact that it isn't in the same light makes it more forbidding, and adds depth and dimension to the photo.

Don't change a thing - it's perfect!!

I think the dark rocks are ok.
If org pic has details in these rocks, you can lighten till right exposure, then paste as new layer and erase everthing else

hi mike, still a great shot, the wave to me is added interest even if not lit by the sun. the golden light is amazing (my favorite style of shooting.) good posting,

This is a beautiful shot, Mike! I like it just like this. As it is the main focus is on the pale foam lacing amongst the sunlit rocks, creating beautiful abstract shapes. The viewer's eye gets gently directed diagonally through the image by angle of the rocks and the beach and that piece of kelp or driftwood, until it meets the sunlit hills where the horizon line takes it back across the image. And the horizon is straight in this one -- I thought it looked a bit tipsy in the last one.
