[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Ouch, this was taken on the last day of the Sumo wrestling in tokyo.
We went to see the big boys come out to play and were surprised to see a russian and bulgarian wrestler taking part also.
This shot was taken from approximately 40 meters distance to the ring right as they smashed into each other. That finger in the nose with that much mass behind it must have hurt. The Focal point i was using was on the wrestler on the right so there is a little motion blur on the wrestler on the left, ideally a faster shutter speed or less distance would have been desirable but for fairly dim conditions with no flash I am quite happy with this.

PS, the referee is seen in the right in the background they have really nice costumes.

Wow, what a great shot... no worries about the 'blur' in the lefthandside wrestler... gives the feel of the movements.
Love the finger up the nose... OUCH!!!

This sure leaves my sumo photo for dead... aaahhh... I'm looking forward to buying my DSLR... xmas pressie for sure!

It was a privilege for you to be able to get to a Basho and see these monsters fight it out....it does portray the aggression in it's full dimension...
