[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The sweeping hillsides of Mt. Tamalpais are one place to see sheer beauty and escape from the turmoil of daily life in the city. A friend described my shadow in this image as a vagabond, or a free spirited wanderer, which was especially appropriate because it does represent me to some extent . . . and I sing a wonderful song by Ralph Vaughn Williams called "The Vagabond."

If you haven't been to this mountain near San Francisco in Marin County, do take the time to drive there some time. On a clear day you'll be rewarded with sweeping views of the ocean with trails along the side that can give you butterflies in your stomach, or there are interior trails in the forest of such quiet and dark wonder, they can't help but lift your spirit.

When the winter rains come there is a waterfall that pours forth over rocks and resembles a scene in Hawaii. The trail is called "The Cataracts."

Hi Richard

I know just what you mean here. I lived in San Rafael for a year and have had many memorable hikes in and around Mt Tam. My favorite being Cataract and Carson Falls hikes. Tam is beautiful year round. I have a few shots of Cataract and the surrounding area somewhere in my gallery on TL, and I when the rains come I will be back for another hike or two.
