[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Here's a slightly different one. This is a band from Finland called Apocalyptica. They play a cross between classical and metal/heavy rock - but the twist is that they use 3 cellos and a drumkit. It's a bit funny to see a bunch of long-haired, sweaty, half-naked guys dressed in leather and spikes playing this beautiful instrumental cello music!

Thankfully the lighting here was excellent (unlike that in the previous pic I posted!) but there was a smoke machine on, so that made it a tiny bit difficult at times.

post-pro: resized, increased contrast and brightness, added frame

A cello and arm in red lights to the left, same to the right, stunning guidance line towards the lit up drummer in the background. DOF is just great. You captured a tensional scenery in a very subtle way, Tine. With all that smoke in the air, diffused lights there and them sharply rendered red spots in front, flying hair.... just wonderful.

THis one really has tons of action!!!!! The red glow is absolutely perfect! And you are soooo right, it's the first time I saw long haired, sweaty, half naked guys dressed in leather and spikes playing cello!!!!! I don't know how it is live, but in your photo I like it a lot!!!
Another great work Tina ;-)
Oops, points tomorrow ok??

Wow, no screaming guitars, but thundering cellos, how an original view !
The Finish Apocalyptica and again, I don't know them....
I like the backlight, the light on the drummer, it's not disturbing your picture for the cello-players, they are in a good light too and the picture is very well composed, nice live, Tina !

Good style thats true! I hear that kind... Gothique Marylin Manson Style with Cello. Intersting style!

About the photo.. It's a nice composition. The mood is good represented, great colors and POV!

I like your series about concerts....
in special way I think this picture gives well the sense of power that Apocalyptica tranmit in their music, at least this is the feeling about their sound seeing the picture.
Well done
Paolo

Tina... this is terrific.

Lots of mood here. The way you've presented the two in the foreground and also the drummer in the shot works to keep the viewer interested in the entire frame. Two different -- but related stories.

The other aspect that I really like is the lighting effects. Nice mood with the red on the cellos. It's composed nicely and all comes together well.

Nicely done.

Interesting I like the tone and the feel this shot brings. something you don't see everyday. well seen. when I see this I think of queen-
bohemian something or other, I forget.

re:I checked out you site its cool you help out in your local scene. I'm not really into metal or goth at all. I like some hardcore punk even a some youthcrew mostly like embrace today, afi(older stuff), link 80, really I like certain songs from many bands mix cd's mostly I get from cd's my wife and I have together.
Some softer songs as well I think that the whole big hair band is really not my style.
I like this shot a lot. I miss going to shows in brooklyn those were the days for me, going to midnight shows... fun times.
thanks for taking me back for a min.
hXc huh you get along with my wife.

I'm in my mid 20's, married, and 2 kids later hard to getaway to go to shows you know. my heart is still at the shows for sure though when I can.

shows in my area currently if your curious you might heard of some of the bands who knows.

i hav heard this band before :) i used to be a metal fan and the fusion of cello and heavy metal is great :)

i like the composition in this photo, with the drummer in the middle, good control of the lights...

i love string quartets, and just cellos and any form of a fiddle. this photograph, is shot in great light, and although i'm sure the fill flash was not used (unless the flash gun was angled not to be direct), it's very still and you can see, it looks rather professional. no movement streaks.

great shot!
cheers
-Bart

Hi Tina
wow .... what a energy filled shot you have shown here ... excellent lighting
I love your composition ... eventhough you cut the head of one of the performer, but that enhances this photo even further .. very well balanced (com)position(IMHO)
I have never heard about this band but I must admit that I am big fan of the music coming out of that part of the world ...
CHeers for now .... sarju
