I wish to share with you the creek found at Mount Singai where we trekk once a week. It runs along the valley to the foothill. One day after a rain, the creek was full of flow activity and noisy.

This is a view of the rocks that spread across the creek and overgrown with moss fungi. They look like a genetically similar 'Rock Family', thus I used this title.

The manner that the rocks scatter around is up the God's nature of using water forces to bring them to where they lie.

My imaginative view : 'This Rock Family wears green', the father is bottom left with grass hat on, the mother with grass hat on, is in the stream washing white bubbles.

I hope you like it. TFS

Regards
Bill

Stanleytham asked a good question, below is my reply.
(I paste it all here for you to read, hope it inspires new members as I myself am inspired)
*-----START-----*
Hi Stanley

Because I find that you appear to have a new passion and good spirit for photography, so I will share more of my experience with you.

For your question, I would ask you in return : What is the rock without the stream? What is the stream without the rock?

If you can answer either of above. Remember, nature is very amazing.

1st, I look for a stream, because where there is WATER, there is LIFE. Agree? All ancient Civilisation says water is essential, besides air.

Imagine, the rock without water. Such as a desert, no water. It is dead?

In fact, I like your question, because it starts me thinking, and also finding an answer for you in doing so.

When I shot this image, I thought it was just ordinary and I kept it in folder. Last night I looked through my folders and said to myself : why this green moss fungi is really very striking color and the stream makes it come alive whenever it is wet. The Rock, on the other hand, is created by water and may also be washed and moved down by water, or broken up by water (in longer term process).

So I decided this is the photo I would post to TL to share. At least no harsh critiques on this natural set (if any, it would be on my poor photography skill, not the rock or stream, agree?).

Today, it rained since morning in Kuching and by 4pm, I went out again to another stream. I hope I will find another good photo there, let me wait till I download the files and skim through. I just got back and will see if there is anything good out of it.

I was asked one question for this shot : any tripod?
ANWER=no. That particular day, I forgot. So, for this shot, I found a big dead trunk (on higher elevation), placed a plastic on it, sat my Nikon on it and shot this.

If you have any further query, please do not hesitate to ask. I will try my best. Sharing and learning at same time, for me too. TFS

Bill

p/s Since it still rains tonight, I will get up at 7am and find another stream tomorrow morning for new
discoveries. It is passion for nature. Have a good WE.

Hi Bill

A soothing image, with good motion blur of the cascading water. The green & white colour combination goes well with the red & blue of the stream bed & rocks. Tfs!

Hi Bill, I love those images of streams and rocks and moss. And your image is a very good one.

Very well achieved! Yan :)
ps: and many thx for the kind words in : "Water, Ice and Stone". I am very pleased that you like it.

Hi Bill,
Shots like this are always fun. I find it fun to experiment with different settngs. I can almost hear the trickling and bubbling of the water. The moss covered rocks is very attractive and with good detail on them. I'm surprised you got as much depth as you did with f/3.5. I myself would have shot with much smaller aperature (larger f value) and lower ISO rating giving me a longer shutter speed...but that's just me. Good shot even though you didn't have your tripod Bill.

Lyndon

Beautiful scenerynice shot.

Without the tripod a fine shot Bill and the effect on the water not overdone. Good colour and light, perhaps a wee bit soft sharpness wise but nicely composed,
David

Many thanks for your comment on ‘Monochrome for Vlad’
