Pass the Parcel

Hello everyone,
I know this isn't technically great, but I don't post many portraits and I rather liked the atmosphere of this one. I took this last night at a friend's 50th birthday party. We played pass the parcel (with forfeits in every layer) and this chap has just discovered what his forfeit was to be. I can't remember what it was, by the way - I'd eaten a lot of vodka jelly through a straw and drunk a lot of beer by this stage, so to be honest I'm surprised I could even work out which way to point the camera.
There's some noise in this as it was shot at ISO 1000. I tried taking some shots with a flash but you just don't capture the atmosphere and it's much harder to get candid shots as you're effectively shouting "Oi! Man with camera!!" every time you take a picture.
Cropped.
Auto levels adjusted in Photoshop.
Cheers, John. |

Yes ... it has suffered somewhat from either movement or lack of light, but it does have spiwit. A nice cheerful pic ... even though it reminds me I'll be turning 50 next year.
Luckily, I'm still a punk, so I'll never grow up.
Hi john,
i agree it is not perfect but it gives a good impression of how it must have looked to you after all the booze.
cheers

Hi John, you certainly captured the atmosphere of the party, as you say, not technically perfect but did anyone say it had to be? I agree with your comments about flash, I much prefer to shoot without. Nice one. Cheers, Dad
