[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Today in post I've received a tripod mount ring.

Yes, it's a piece of metal ring that enables you to mount a heavy lens with a body, safely onto a tripod, leveling equally the weight of your photographic equipment.

Such piece of gadget costs pretty much, around 100GBP - very expensive - but that's what you have to pay both for Trademark and precision built quality.

Good enough alternatives/compatibles can be found on eBay, almost four times cheaper than the original one. The alternative is of good and satisfactory built quality.

Fits very nicely, and holds it all safely and steadily on your tripod.
It also comes in handy at sport events. Helps you quickly and evenly follow a subject, such as speeding car or a motorbike.

The tripod mount ring mainly prevents the thread on the BODY as well as the lens from loosening and getting damaged - while the heavy and long lens pulls the BODY.

================

As for the photo, it consists of two pictures...one taken last summer in the north of Poland, second photo consists of my photo equipment, all happily mounted using this useful gadget.

Picture was taken in my kitchen, with orange painted walls, used a compact camera (Casio) with its built in flash.
Cropped out all unwanted bits and pieces, leaving the photo equipment in place.
Magnetic lasso tool wasn't helpful here (that's what I normally use to crop out the subject) - and all due to low colour and contrast difference between the equipment and shadows on the wall.

Polygonal lasso tool was a perfect option here.
Much more precise when it comes to cropping out straight and even "body" contours.

Reduced in size before pasting in, so it proportionally fits the landscape photograph.

Enjoy.
Tom

PS. Have a look at my WORKSHOP to see the tripod mount ring itself.

PS. the background photo comes from a heavily cropped panoramic shot, which you can find HERE.

Hi Thomas,
A funny combination: such a big zoom-lens .... and a flash on top. As if you can flash for kilometers. :-)
Good commercial note. I think I gonna buy one.
greetings,
Joop!

Hi Thomas,
Nice background shot and nice PP work, you have got the size for the camera just right and positioned well, the lens mounts are usefull to balance the kit on the tripod and also to hold the lens while carrying to take some of the weight from the neckstrap, my 100-400mm L came with the mount, I have a tripod mount on the lens all of the time and also one on the camera body for when I use the 17-85mm.
Regards Andy
