| San Gimignano is a midievel town, known for it's towers, in the province of Siena in Tuscany. In the 12th and 13th century these towers were build by rivaling rich families; they served aswel for housing as fortification, but above all they were objects of prestige. Once the city had about 70 towers. Nowadays the city-silhouet is dominated by the remaining 13 towers. |
