You've Got Mail.. but sometimes in Canada you don't find it until the snow melts.

Just a rural mail box, with the phone book, that was probably delivered some time in December and would not fit in the box, so left in front on the ground. With our January thaw it has now reappeared.

Taken in our mist filled world.

Raw converted, croped, cloned out a hydro wire, saturated +2, unsharpe mask, resized framed and signed.

Thank you for helping me learn and grow.

Hello! i like the general feel of the scene, the thawing and dirty snow, the end of winter. the general composition is good but one thing is really bugging me.

The top of the mailbox is bang in line with the horizon and the top of the gate. i feel if you had crouched lower and maybe been a little closer, then the mailbox would have risen above the horizon and been a more prominent feature. i think that would have been more suitable for this shot given the title and the note.

i am sorry, i hope i have not offended you with my opinion.

Hi Wanda,
Excellent daily life winter photo! Funny detail, this phone book! I can imagine there many calls in vocal box! :)
I like the composition with good the sense of space and nice colors! Bravo! Annie

Hi Wanda,
The critique from the unknow photographer above is very good. A lower POV would have made a more dynamic composition. This is a thing that is difficult but very important. Beside that, the feel of the cold is perfectly captured. The rural mood in this photo is something I love. Great details and exposure.

Niek

Nice sense of humour. Good that the book was not blown away too. Nice composition with a story. tFS. K2

Hi Wanda
You love fences just like me, they're so beautiful in the landscape and can be good frames.
I love your composition here? You didn't use your new lens did you? It's the 18-55mm that's mentioned. Despite the misty weather you got very bright colors on the mailbox. You got a good point of view and a "right" angle ( I don't mean 90°). The corn stems against the fence add an extra touch of natural color. Did you try cloning the red and yellow markers?

Good work
Serge

hi wanda, nice scene here, the overcast light is great for making the colors really stand out, the composition is good too! well done,
thanks, scott

Bonjour Wanda,
Une scène de vie... moi que me plains de ne pas voir de neige chez moi, finalement... ça me convient ;o)
Elle donne froid ta photo, un sentiment de solitude aussi, ça en fait une très bonne composition
Bonne journée Wanda

Hi Wanda, the layout of this doesn't offend me at all. Your were chasing the colour and achieved that well. I guess in areas like this you would want to check your mail regularly. Nice colour, good detail and well framed. CS2?

Hello Wanda.
The mailbox adds a lot to this winterlandscape.
Glad, here in holland they deliver mail at your door. When it is too big, they ring the bell, haha
Good work on it.
Best regards from Jan

I like this one very much -- perhaps a lower crouch would have helped, but I know I couldn't have done it myself. Great colours, lovely composition

Hi Wanda

Lol at the "until the snow melts" comment! Judging from the lean of the letterbox & the bg plants it gets pretty windy in these parts too. Tfs!

Beautiful winter photo!
Wonderful composition, nice winter colors, very well done,

Hi Wanda,
This is a "simple" but beatiful image. The nice details like the fence and the postbox makes it an attractive picture for me. The brightness, contrast and sharpness are fine. The presentation in the black frame takes care for a well balanced image.
Hans

Hi Wanda
Very lovely image with a creative view of a simple daily life subject.
The colours really stand out. I have not been in Carleton Place area in
winter but this photo inspires me to go photo hunting in the area.
