[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Sometime Mother Nature can create the most beautiful shapes and patterns that a famous painter cannot match let alone think of. We as photographers have the easy job to just see it and capture it. But that also entails the difficulty of photography. Most of us know how to make a photo, but a lot of us don't see.

I believe that if we all start too look better at what is around us and what is crossing out path, we will find a lot more natural art, and a lot more unique photo opportunities.

I found this piece of natural art on a cold Sunday afternoon near a small nature reserve close to my home. The thin layer of water in these small puddles were totally frozen, and ice crystals had formed. The white round shapes are created by air bubbles locked in the frozen ice. The air got trapped by the decomposing vegetation.

For a slightly different composition, please also take a look at this version: Nature's Surprising Beauty

Hi Niek,
I agree totally with you. Learning to look at is an art by itself! It seems that you have much skill to do it! This photo is a proof.
This natural art looks like an old wedding dress found in a box with the diadem of the veil posed above. Time will have preserved to it all silver spangles! Very well seen and artistically done! Annie

the winter with the large cold gives back solid the water and the crystals of ice seen from neighbor give emotions for their structure and
beauty, like this marvellous photograph
well done Niek

Kunstig Niek! Het lijkt wel een luchtfoto van Nederland (de zee-engte tussen Flevoland en het vasteland, om maar iets te zeggen).
Om de ijstexturen beter te doen uitkomen, zou ik wel een zwart kader hebben gebruikt.
TFS & groeten,
Erik

Nature is artistic. Well seen and captured. TFS. K2.

Hello Niek,
Water is an interesting subject, and even more so in the form of ice!
Ice crystals take fascinating forms in perfect symmetry, and here they are put together in pleasant shapes and forms...
Good texture and details, well framed!
Greetings,
Pablo -

Nice to hear you're coming to Norway this summer!
If you're visiting sothern parts it is advisable to bring your car, as the distances are quite long here...

Hallo Niek,

This is indeed very interesting and artistic. You have done a great job of capturing these fine details. You used the light well to bring out the textures and the shapes are great. Well done.

Hi Niek

I agree with you. I am always impressed by natures art. Last year I took some ice formation shots. This year hasn't really been cold enough for this type of image. Although we have plenty of rain :)

Excellent exposure and nice sharp details. It looks like an abstract work of art

Totally agree with your note. Sometimes nature gives us much more than we can see and expect. And you managed to see this. Thanks for sharing. Well done.

Erg mooi vastgelegd, Niek!
Compositie vind ik erg goed, het heeft iets weg van een Jugendstill versiering op een grijs gebouw. Zonder je note had ik echt niet geweten wat het was ;)

Hi Niek.

Nice one.
Very good detail, beautiful texture and crisp patterns.

You are correct: most of us just can't see what's in front of us!
Keep shooting!
