[photo info: original black and white; scan from slide: Ilford iso 400; f 5.6 (if I remember well…); I just reduced brightness a little, in order to preserve the skin texture; no other postprocessing]

Another shot taken during a photography workshop organised by the International Summer Academy in Libramont/Belgium (www.akdt.be). The theme of the workshop was “portraits in black and white” (for analogue cameras only). The same model (a fellow photographer) as in “Wounded Tree # 2”.
We decided together to call this photo “L’Aimante” (+/- “In Love”), as we felt that is the mood this photo conveys.
Thanks for your comments, critiques and suggestions.

nice mood captured. nice expression of eyes and eye brows. the tree adds a very symbolic dimension

Trying to decide how I feel about this one. I'm not sure that it quite hits the same spot as the previous shot, possibly because there is no connection between subject and viewer, I almost feel excluded from her connection with the tree, if that makes sense.

Her connection with the tree, also, is not well expressed - it's a subtle point, but the fact that her eyes seem to be fixed to a point on the tree that is at, or even beyond, the frame of the photo makes it a little unsettling. Probably could have been solved by aiming the camera a little higher?

It also comes across as being slightly underexposed, I think more contrast or brightness wouldn't hurt.

Hi, Erik!

Solitude, melancholy, remembrance: this beautiful picture says this to me. The model there was choice very much, very expressive her face (shows on the other picture even well.)

Erik,

Fascinating to see the expression -- she really looks like she loves this tree
Very fine details

Best regards
