Monks, umbrella and the sun
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
At some Athonite Monasteries at Epiphany, after Mattins and before Liturgy, they use to walk down to the sea in a litany and bless the water by the bishop or abbot throwing a cross in it. Then some young men use to dive in and get it back. Here, the service is over, the famous icon of Panagia Portaitissa is carried back to the Monastery under the umbrella seen on the bottom, while a photographer descents to follow it and three monks look in reverence.

Hi Thiv56! Mysterious scene. Amazing lightness. Fantastic shadows. Great effect. Wonderful picture. Cheers!
very attractive "historic" "movie" type photo. well done.
Hi Theologos,
I think this is the best and most impressive from your series.
I like it a lot,
Mihaela
Hi Theologos,
Great composition, the silhouettes in front of the setting sun is perfect. A very strong and appealing image. Regarding the composition, I think the umbrella doesn't fit to the scene, it's a bit disturbing in my opinion. Made a WS to show what I mean, also increasing the saturation might improve it. Nevertheless a fine posting my friend!
