Good morning Tom
Well for your efforts I think this is an excellent capture of an imressive looking building. it sounds from your notes as though you and I have had the same problem this week. I thought B/W was more simple and straight forward.. how wrong I was lol. I think my problem has been the weather, its very difficult to get a sharp outside image when the weather is dreary as the light and contrasts are not good. Your image is excellent you have handled the lighting well. This view does suit B.W in my opinion as it adds to the age of the building. Your notes are also interesting.
TFS and for joining in the theme
kind regards Helen

Hello Tom!
Original lightness. Very nice contrast. Good POV. Interesting industrial object. Original shot.

Hi Tom
I must say your B&W treatment has made this photo really look older then just a few days...
Nice subject and a wonderful POV

Nice conversion to B/W Tom!
I like your POV and how you composed the shot.
I guess if I was being really picky I'd say it could be a bit sharper and maybe a tad more contrast?
In my experience B/W shots usually work best if they are razor sharp, but of course that is personal preference.
It's a great shot anyway, and I'm glad you shared it!
Regards, Vincent

Hi Tom. I know it well - my ex's family were all from Bradford and I've spent many happy hours round these parts.
Compositionally, I really like it. However, focus seems a bit soft (possibly needs a bit more sharpening) and you seem to have lost the highlights and true black shadows. It's all mid-tones.
How did you convert to B&W? The best way, I find, is to use the 'channel mixer' method which allows you to create the effect of using different coloured filters to bring out detail in the sky, grass, etc..
If you wish, post a colour version in the WS and I'll see if I can produce a punchier version...
Kind regards, Paul.

Hi Tom,
Nice composition and a good scene, works really well in B&W. Possibly a bit more contrast would work better, but I like this as it is.
Good note too.
Cheers, John.

Hello Tom, good contribution to the theme, good composition, great POV and very good subject, a bit soft though. Well done, thanks !

Difficult call Tom, I think it needs a bit more contrast but when I tried a workshop it was hard to get it right without the sky burning out. I will put the workshop on and I think it has improved it. Played with the contrast first and then went to Shadows/Highlights for fine tuning. Nice shot and composition.

Hi Tom,
This looks so original, you sure you didn't take it fifty years ago:-)
Well seen, good note too.

Tom,
Good work, a very moody presentation, the mono colour works well and good POV too. TFS

hi Tom, some images just ask for conversion as I found out when Helen first proposed the theme. Well composed, good detail and a worthy submission. As Pete (Eosnut) said, an older style BW. TFS,

Many thanks for your comment on ‘Old Man Bear - Cuddly Toy’...no beer for me I went off that about 20 years ago, too much good cooking :)
