~Lac des Deux-Montagnes~

After a warm day and just before a cool evening....


Lac des Deux Montagnes (English: Lake of Two Mountains) is part of the delta widening of the Ottawa River in Quebec, Canada, where it feeds into the Saint Lawrence River, around the many islands of the Hochelaga Archipelago through this lake toward the northeast, or directly into neighbouring Lake Saint-Louis, which takes the St-Lawrence south of the Island of Montreal.

Lake of Two Mountains has four outflows: Rivière des Mille Îles to the north, and Rivière des Prairies in the middle, forming the island of Île Jésus (the city of Laval) in between, before Rivière des Mille Îles, joins Rivière des Prairies, which in turn joins the Saint Lawrence. Next there are two branches of the Ottawa River to the south, flowing into the Saint Lawrence (Lake Saint-Louis) on either side of Île Perrot. The present city of Deux-Montagnes is located on the north shore of the lake where it flows into Rivière des Mille Îles.

The lake was first named Lac des Médicis in 1612 by Samuel de Champlain, then renamed Lac des Soissons about 1632, and ended up bearing its current name around the year 1684. The name refers to the two highest peaks of Mont Oka that face the lake on its northern shore, Calvaire Mountain and Saint-Joseph-du-Lac Hill.

Excellent catch here. I like how the water changes the shape of the reeds. Perhaps a slight boost in color saturation would really make this shot stand out.

manuellement pas facile avec mise au point automatique avec les

Dear Dany,
beautiful warped patterns on the wavy cureved water surface. I especially like the contrast and the combination of pale orange color clouds and pale blue sky. these colors are very tender and calm for this atmosphere. this feeling of swinging is like a comforatble rocking chair or a cradle...

Hi Dany, I like your composition,the position of the reeds at the background,with their reflection into the foreground,
wonderful lines & curves of both the darker reeds mingling with the warmer color of the pinks & blues of the skies reflection,painting with light indeed.

C'est une image que j'aime bien car trop souvent les gens cherchent à montrer la réalité plutôt l'abstrait. Je ne dis pas qu'une réflexion n'est pas une réalité, mais ne montrer qu'elle c'est un peu vouloir montrer les talents artistiques de Mère-Nature. Le contraste des couleurs est superbe et la composition et le cadrage bien réussie. Joli travail et TFS.
